Our friend M took the IELTS test in the USA and remembered the following topics and questions:

Listening test

Section 1. About planning a tour to different places.
Questions: filling in blanks.

Section 2. A guide was giving an introduction about a museum.
Questions: multiple choice, map labelling.

Section 3. Don’t remember.

Section 4. A speaker talked about road signs and indicators.

Reading test

Passage 1. About clothing styles for different occasions.
Questions: filling in blanks, True/False/Not Given.

Passage 2. An agriculture-related article.
Questions: filling in blanks, multiple choice.

Passage 3. A scientific research about electricity production using wind and water forces.
Questions: filling in blanks, multiple choice.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)

We were given two tables showing the numbers of international students in Canada and the US, who came from countries such as India, China, and others between the years 2000-2002 and 2003-2004.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some people believe that it is better to live and work in a vertical city with multiple tall buildings, as compared to a horizontal city with fewer tall buildings. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
