J recently took the IELTS test in India and remembered the following topics and questions from Listening, Reading and Writing sections:

Listening test

Section 1. About a music course.
Section 2. About a park on volcanic soil in New Zealand.
Section 3. A discussion between two students about their teaching project.
Section 4. A survey related to insurance.

Reading test

Passage 1. About a bus travel company and different hotels.
Passage 2. About paternity leave and safety rules in a company for food-handlers.
Passage 3. About an archeologist and Egypt archeology in particular.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You had some building work done in your home, but you are unhappy with the outcome. Write a letter to the builder and say

– Describe the work done.
– Why are you not happy?
– What do you want the builder to do about it?

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

These days free music and free films are available online. Is this a positive or a negative development? Give reasons for your answer and include examples from your own experience.
