IELTS test in Australia – October 2016 (General Training)

Our friends L and R collectively remembered the following information about an IELTS exam in Australia:

Listening testIELTS test in Australia

Section 1. A phone interview with a person looking for caretaker for his mother who is 80 years old.
Questions: filling an application form.

Section 2. Description of a sports club and its facilities.
Questions: multiple choice, diagram/map labeling.

Section 3. Two students talked about the subject they are studying and their future career.
Questions: filling in blanks, multiple choice.

Section 4. About honey bees and their behavior.
Questions: filling in blanks, multiple choice.

Reading test

Passage 1. About water supply system and services provided by water department.
Questions: True/False/Not Given.

Passage 2. About a new membership at Auckland library.
Questions: filling an application form.

Passage 3. About famous painting by Johan Vermeer and its duplication. The painting depicts a woman sitting next to a piano.
Questions: filling in blanks, True/False/Not Given, match sentences with people.

Passage 4. About annual leave system implementation in the USA.
Questions: diagram/map labeling.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)

Write a letter to your friend telling him/her that you have won a photography competition. In your letter

– Describe the event.
– Describe the photograph you have sent for the competition.
– Invite him/her to the exhibition where your photograph is presented.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Nowadays many countries are facing the problem of heavy traffic and congestion. Describe the situation in your home country and suggest some solutions.

Speaking test

Interview

– What do you do?
– What should be the most important quality of a teacher?

Cue Card

Describe an interesting animal that you saw for the first time. Please say
